When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

My journey with crossfit began about 2 years ago, although I did take a few months off to finish school, I am now back at the gym!

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

The only thing that stopped me from joining crossfit sooner, was myself. I had always heard about crossfit and watched the crossfit games, but always thought I wouldn’t be able to do half the workouts that crossfiters did. Then I met Alex, who coached at Crossfit Breaux Bridge and told me about the on ramp classes that they had for beginners for crossfit, so I decided to finally go and have been hooked ever since!

What do you love most about CFBB?

What I love most about crossfit is the support system we have. Everyone motivates you to be your best. Whether you finished first or last, everyone in the gym is with you to the end cheering you on. On top of that, I love that the coaches are very passionate in what they do and how they coach us, they want us to succeed and be the best that we can be, not only in the gym but outside the gym.

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?

Crossfit has made a big impact on my lifestyle, not only physically but mentally. I used to be the one who would eat unhealthy, get little exercise, and drink on the weekends. When I first started crossfit, i didn’t eat as healthy as I should have been, which made me fall behind in my workouts and although it took some time, I began to eat better, which made me feel better, which led to being more consistent in my workouts, and after a few months I was able to go up with my weight in every workout! As much as I improved inside the gym, I also Improved outside of gym, After a long day on my feet, and after a hard workout, I still had enough energy to go home and do my house work, even play outside with my daughter. I am all around a much happier person since I joined CFBB!

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend crossfit to anyone. Crossfit Breaux Bridge is more then just a gym, it’s a second family to me. The coaches and members constantly motivate me to push myself and even when I want to give up they are there to cheer me on.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Just thought I’d share a llittle quote that keeps me motivated:

When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully.

When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light.

When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it.

When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway.

When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back.

When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some.

When you’re feeling tired, dare to keep going.

When times are tough, dare to be tougher.

When love hurts you, dare to love again.

When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal.

When another is lost, dare to help them find the way.

When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand.

When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile.

When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too.

When the day has ended, dare to feel as you’ve done your best.

Dare to be the best you can –

At all times, Dare to be!

What made you start CrossFit?

– My cousin discovered Crossfit on a Marine deployment overseas. After returning home, he started doing it at his house in the back yard. He convinced me to try it with him. I had been working out in the gym for years and thought I was in pretty good shape. After getting demolished on my first few wod’s I was humbled and hooked.

What do you love most about CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

– The people. There is something about the group atmosphere of good people that keeps me going back. The coaches are great. They truly go out of their way to help and let you know they care about you. You can tell it’s a passion for them and not just a job.

How has CrossFit affected your life outside of the box ?

– I work a very stressful job that leaves me mentally beat up, physically exhausted and in a bad mood when I get off. That bad mood is greatly improved after I finish the workout. It allows me to go home to my family without a negative attitude.

Crossfit has also given me courage that I did not have before. I have competed in multiple Crossfit competitions since joining. I never used to put myself out there, alone, like that before. It’s something I never thought I would do.

What is your fondest CrossFit Breaux Bridge memory ?

– I tore my rotator cuff (old injury) last year. CFBB sent a care package and a card signed by the whole gym while I was recovering. The coaches have worked with me to modify workouts for well over a year now so that my shoulder heals properly and stronger than it was before.

What would you say to someone thinking about joining CrossFit Breaux Bridge ?

– Don’t be intimidated by the loud music and weights. It doesn’t matter what your current physical condition is. You CAN do it!! If you truly want to invest in something, make it yourself. This is one of the few programs that will keep you engaged and consistent. You will see measurable results. It will positively change the way you look at life.

I bet I have met over 100 new people that I consider friends since I joined. Who wouldn’t want that?

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

I started my journey with CFBB on February 11, 2016 at the age of 20. I decided to pursue a healthy lifestyle when I seen how much it was working out for my brother, Dustin.

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

The only thing that was holding me back from CrossFit was the 28-14 job schedule I had at the time. I was lucky enough to find an at home job, Monday-Friday to where I could finally come and join.

What do you love most about CFBB?

What I love most about CFBB has got to be the positive attitude and the encouragement from everyone, especially all the coaches. We’re all just one big family and stick together, even on those gruesome wods. It’s really nice to be in an environment where your health is #1 priority.

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?

Anywhere I go, I’m ready to take on any obstacle that life is daring to throw my way. At work and home I can get things done and not be exhausted. I can prepare myself to do things way better than I could before I started CrossFit.

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend CFBB to the whole world if I could. As I see it, if you’re serious about your health and living a better lifestyle, then CFBB is definitely the place to get a great head start. You have to come and try it for yourself to see the improvements and to get the health benefits from CrossFit that you will not get from sitting on the couch eating potato chips.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

You have to push yourself everyday to strive for the person you deserve to be. I’d like to thank our highly trained coaches that teach me the correct way to train my body to each particular movement inside and outside of the box. Excellent coaching means excellent training.

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

I walked into my very first OnRamp class on Feb 10th 2014. I remember the evening class doing very violent looking box jumps and deadlifts. Seeing the intensity in their workout definitely made me think twice about what I’d signed up for. Physically I was way behind everyone in my Onramp class, which was something I knew beforehand. I just figured as long as I kept going, did what I could every day, eventually I would get better. I was barely able to run 100m without having to stop and walk. Two months later I ran 800m straight through. I have accomplished so much in these past few years, things that I truly thought I would never be able to do…things that I thought for me, were impossible.

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

I was never someone disciplined enough to exercise unless I had someone beside me to help me along. Throughout my adult life I had never been inside a gym. Over the years I occasionally tried workout regimens at home, but nothing ever lasted. My friend Carla joined CrossFit 6 months before me and I learned so much from her even before I stepped foot inside CFBB. She would tell me about her workouts and even though they sounded horrendous, it was something she enjoyed. I was pretty sure I would eventually try CrossFit, I just needed that push to actually start. After hearing about the wods and warming up to the idea for a few months, I finally bit the bullet (and drank the Kool-Aid). After finishing my OnRamp classes, I immediately signed up for 6 months. I just knew it was perfect for me and something I needed to do for myself. I also figured that it was the best way to make sure that I would continue. (Best decision ever!)

What do you love most about CFBB?

The people! In my opinion it’s what sets aside CFBB from any other gym. There’s always someone to motivate you and keep you moving when you think you can’t go anymore. There is something special about being in a class with people of all walks of life, who are on all different fitness levels, and you are all working through one killer wod together. Some might be doing 4 times what you are, but you are all doing the best you can, and that in itself is inspiring.

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?

I’ve become physically stronger. I don’t necessarily have more energy some days (thanks to my morning WOD Mon-Fri) but housework has become less taxing, and I can easily throw around heavy grocery bags. My sleep patterns have become much better, and I can finally shop for my clothes and outfits outside of the plus size section.

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely, and I do! The CrossFit community is extraordinary, that is especially true in Breaux Bridge. We have exceptional coaches; each one is above and beyond what a coach should be. It’s apparent that they want nothing less for the athletes. Their experience and knowledge shines through and it passes down to every member of CFBB.

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

My journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge began in June of 2014, thanks to Ms. Carla!

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

I would say what prevented me from starting sooner was the fear of not being able to keep up or do most of the movements. At first I wanted to give up, but I kept my head up and kept going. The motivation from the coaches and other members has helped tremendously.

What do you love most about CFBB?

I love the atmosphere that CFBB has. The coaches and members are so motivating that you look forward to that hour in the gym. Lets not forget all the extra time before and after a class you spend talking to the friends you made over the years. CFBB is not like any other gym, if you miss a few days the staff is checking up on you. I have never joined or heard of a gym that cared about their members like CFBB does.

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?

CrossFit has improved my life outside the box both physically and mentally. I feel as though CrossFit has motivated me to build a better me. It has shown me that just because you don’t succeed at something at first, continue to push. When you continue to push and motivate yourself, you will look back and be grateful for all the time you didn’t give up.

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend CFBB to anyone. CFBB is not just a gym it’s a family, a second family that constantly motivates you to be the best. You’d be impressed with your constant improvement.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Before CFBB, I was a member of global gyms where basically I would just hangout in cardio section. I had never lifted or used any free weights in my life. If you’re scared about joining because you’re thinking “I can’t do any of that”, don’t be. I couldn’t do majority of the movements when I first started and even some now, but I continue to push till I can.

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

I started my journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge in January of 2015, 4 months after my knee surgery.

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

My dad had been in CrossFit for a while, and I would always go watch. I always wanted to join but I was always busy with softball and had a lot of problems with my left knee (many dislocations) and was scared to join thinking I would hurt myself badly to where I couldn’t play softball anymore. During the summer of 2014 we decided I would go ahead with surgery to hopefully solve my knee problems. On September 4, 2014 I had a cadaver ligament put into my knee to prevent the dislocations since my ligament was basically so little from all the dislocations. I killed it at therapy and joined CrossFit 4 months later and was able to play my junior year of softball.

What do you love most about CFBB?

I love the people. It’s so awesome the amount of support you get. There are many times where I’m the last one finishing a workout and I’m surrounded by everyone pushing me to finish, and it makes me feel awesome to know I have people who care about me and want me to do my best.

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?

Well to start, ever since I joined CrossFit I’ve gotten a lot stronger. I’ve hit 3 home runs in softball after struggling to even make it outfield (lol) after I joined CrossFit so that has to say something. Ever since I’ve joined I haven’t had anymore knee issues, it’s helped me strengthen up a lot. And most importantly I’ve gotten closer with my dad. It’s fun to do something we both like together and push each other, not only in the workouts but also with the paleo challenges we do together.

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

Of course I would. Our coaches are the best and will help anyone. When you walk in no one is being judged, you’ll probably get greeted by everyone when you walk in with either a high five or fist bump. You will make lots of good memories and great friendships. They are there to help you be a better you.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

If you ever feel like you aren’t good enough to join CrossFit or healthy enough, you should. You will learn so many things about yourself that you never thought was possible. Our coaches will start you off slow and help you reach your full potential and before you know it you will surprise yourself!!

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

March 2015

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

The thing that prevented me from joining sooner than I did was not having the drive and want to pursue a fitter me.

What do you love most about CFBB?

What I love the most about CFBB is how all the others provide more of a home welcoming environment. And let’s not forget the amazing coaching staff that we have to help critique all of the movements. I can definitely say that with the help of my coaches my form in my lifts and others ares have gotten a hell of a lot better from when I first started.

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?

Outside the box, CrossFit has helped to impact my life by helping me to want and work for a better lifestyle for myself. CrossFit has also helped to create a strong confidence level in myself and striving to push that extra mile if it’s at work or whatever I may be doing.

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend CFBB to a friend because you will be introduce to top notch coaches who care about where you wanna be at in and outside of the gym. You will also be welcomed to great people within the gym to help you feel like it’s home.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Joining CFBB is definitely one of the greatest choices I’ve made and I don’t regret it at all. I’ve always been pretty athletic but CrossFit has definitely taken my fitness to the next level and helped motivate me to live a more healthy lifestyle and wanna compete in this sport with the big dogs of the community.

I can’t thank our amazing coaches at CFBB enough for all the time and effort they provide for us to better ourselves as people and athletes.

Seth Suire

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

I started my journey a little after February of 2016. I’ve tried the Boot Camp type of classes and had memberships to local gyms but I never felt I was getting anything back from them. In those types of memberships you are a number and nothing more. I could talk to the same person that worked in those gyms for months straight and they still wouldn’t remember my name. I had some good friends of mine that had been giving CrossFit a try and at first I was one of the first people to laugh and poke fun at them for joining a cult. However, after a while I warmed up to the idea of giving it a try as one of my good friends convinced me to just go there and see for myself.

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

I’ll admit one of the biggest things that stopped me was the lack of interest in putting my body through the meat grinder as I’ve seen many of my friends do. Watching them show up to work and look like they’ve just ran through a wall was not doing much to convince me to give it a look. Another thing was the mystique of the reputation of being in CrossFit to begin with. You all know how the jokes go. An atheist, a vegan and a crossfitter all walk into a bar and everyone knows this because they told everyone within 2 minutes. Or the other one that goes “I just saw this huge cockroach and I sprayed him with Axe bodyspray but instead of dying he’s told me his name is Chad and he won’t shut up about CrossFit”. After a while my friends started coming to work without pain on their faces and I did a little more research on my own. After a little nudging from friends I decided to take the leap.

What do you love most about CFBB?

I’m sure you’ve read this a million times before but I’ll say that it’s the community itself. I remember telling Josh when we had our first little sit down conversation prior to the On-Ramp classes that I was not interested in working out with a bunch of meatheads that constantly snort and make others feel uncomfortable. To this day I haven’t ran into any guy or girl in that box that doesn’t respond to a simple hello without a smile or fist bump. Each workout reminds me of basic training where everyone suffered the same and it formed a bond that is indescribable to those who don’t go through it themselves. I may not lift as much as the person next to me or do as many reps as the other guy but I know we’re both going through the same ordeal and that only builds bonds between everyone.

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?

Well for starters the best feeling is being able to run around and playing with my two little boys and have them tire out before me. I’ll be able to play sports with them when they get old enough to dribble a basketball or play catch with them without getting winded after just a couple of minutes. I’ve not felt this great in a long time and I’m really looking forward to continuing to grow as an athlete. Nearly everyone that I know gives me encouragement and tells me that they are absolutely seeing positive changes in my appearance.

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

I’d certainly recommend joining CFBB or any other box simply because results do not lie. You can sugar coat going to a regular gym but giving everything you have in the everyday WOD’s will ultimately give you results that you wouldn’t think you could achieve before signing up. It’s one of those things that reward you direct based off of your effort. If you’re wanting to make a change in the way you feel and the way your clothes fit on you then it only takes you signing up and trust the process.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I’m not going to lie when I say that I was one of the biggest critics of CrossFit all together. I’ve been proven to be a believer in the idea that you can make a change in your life for the better by simple hard work and a little dedication. On a personal note I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and I fully intend to cure myself of this disease that has already taken several members of my family. Being a member of a great support system like the one that CFBB provides makes me feel like the future looks very bright for me personally. I intend to continue to be a member of this awesome box and look forward to seeing more changes to my health and overall health.

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

Started 5yrs ago when CFBB open the doors to the first box in the back of golds gym.

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

I didn’t know to much about CrossFit. I was introduce to it by Nick Reese way back when and told him he was crazy if he thought I was doing that type of training. I then gave in bc I was ready for a change after total reconstruction knee surgery, I let myself go and began to have health issues i.e. high blood pressure.

What do you love most about CFBB?

I love the community, I’ve gain a lot of friends and an awesome lifestyle. I began to eat better and my blood pressure became controlled and my doctor took me off my meds. I’ve also lost weight which helped the pains in my knee ease up a little. That is a big plus because I’ve been active all my life and because of all my issues I’ve went into a dark place. With the CrossFit lifestyle I was able to come out of that dark place and be myself again.

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?

CrossFit has allowed me to become a better man, husband, farther, brother, friend, supervisor, and most importantly a mentor to several people in my life and outside of my life.

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

I would absolutely without a doubt recommend CrossFit to a friend! In fact I speak about it in my everyday life. As a law enforcement officer I use CrossFit in my profession everyday I walk out my house. CrossFit has prepared me mentally as well as physically to go out and do my job to the best of my ability. It gives me the strength to move things and the mental preparation to make sound decisions while I’m out working. As a supervisor along with prayer, CrossFit has brought a calmness to me to help deal with my people and make sound decisions for them as well.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

To anyone that doesn’t know me, take my story and use it as motivation to get you going. Life is to short to not care about your family or friends because they are the ones that suffer when anything happens. Just a short story, I went into the doctors office for a check up and had to bring my 3 girls along. While at the doctor’s office the doctor ran a series of test and one was a blood pressure check. Once it was done the nurse asked me “Mr. Williams are u feeling any certain way?”and like most of us do “I lied”. I was feeling horrible but because I had my girls I was reluctant to tell the truth because I was concerned about them. The doctor then came in and said we need to admit you into the hospital because your blood pressure is at stroke level. I then gave her a line of crap and she gave me some meds and said go home and rest and if I start feeling bad call 911. I said yes ma’am doc I’ll do what you say and in the back of my mind I said “I got her to get me to go home” and that’s all I wanted. As I write this I think about how selfish I was to my girls because anything could have happened to me and put my girls in harms way because I lied. If something happened to them I wouldn’t have been able to live with myself. Don’t be a “ME” and think about all what could go wrong, just because all u have on your mind is YOU. I’m a much better person bc of that day, it opened my eyes to a lot of things I was neglecting in my life and my health was one of them. CrossFit is a lifestyle that most don’t understand until they join and it becomes clear that CrossFit is concerned about your health! So just walk into the box one day and get greeted by a community that cares about YOU and stop making it about ME!! I’ll leave you all with this! I’m a firm believer in putting god first family than yourself and everything falls in place afterward!! Thanks for taking time to read this quick summary of my life and I hope it helps changes some lives!! #CFBB

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

As many of you may not know, in January 2013 I unexpectedly lost my boyfriend of two years to a rare heart condition called ARVD. We were both playing ball at LSUA when he collapsed on the field one Saturday during practice and could not be revived. I then moved back home and finished my courses at UL giving up my softball career. I would sit at home day after day not talking or coming out of my room. I would sleep all day just to make the days pass. At first I couldn’t eat, and then later found comfort in food and gained about 30 pounds. Being an athlete all of my life I was disgusted with who I was letting myself become.

One day I was talking to my cousin Dustin Lavergne and he was just ranting about CrossFit and CFBB. I thought to myself that this could help me heal. This could be a way to forget about my life at that moment and also a way to get back into shape. I owe a huge part of my grieving and healing process to CFBB. The family and the friends that I have made here have changed my life and I will be forever grateful. I began smiling and laughing again and used CrossFit as my escape. Honestly, without CrossFit I don’t know where I would be today.

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

Nothing really prevented me from starting, but school did stop me for a few months last year and I’m hoping to find a box in Houston when I move in August!

What do you love most about CFBB?

The people and the coaches! I love my second family here at CFBB! And our coaches..TOP NOTCH!

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?

CFBB has taught me that even though you have nothing left to give, keep fighting. Not only inside of the box, but outside as well in everyday life.

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! The community at CFBB is one of a kind. My boyfriend is a CrossFit coach at another gym and I just couldn’t see myself leaving CFBB.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

If you are considering joining CFBB, you should! It changed my life and I could do the same for you!

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

I started my journey with CFBB a few months after having my daughter back in 2013. Having a newborn made it somewhat difficult to get to the gym as often as I wanted. It wasn’t until June of last year that I decided to make CrossFit part of my daily routine.

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

I was straight up intimidated. I thought CrossFit was all about flipping tires and drill sergeants. Boy was I wrong! After stepping outside of my comfort zone and going to my first class, I quickly realized that it wasn’t all about flipping tires and it most definitely wasn’t with drill sergeants.

What do you love most about CFBB?

What I love most about CFBB is how personal the coaches are with myself and all the other athletes. I also love how everyone at the gym treats each other as if we are all a big family.

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?

With the help of CrossFit, I’ve lost 35 pounds. I haven’t been this size since high school and it feels fantastic. Most importantly, CrossFit has allowed me to be able to keep up with my rambunctious 3 year old, and ultimately live a healthier life.

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

I would, and have, recommended CFBB to friends. The family atmosphere and personal coaching allow for the perfect place to become a better, stronger version of yourself.

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

October of 2014

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

What prevented me most from joining CrossFit Breaux Bridge was my fear of not being strong or fit enough to keep up. I never thought of myself as “strong”. But, OF COURSE, Nay (my sister) constantly reassured me that I would be fine. I saw how much she enjoyed it and she is the one who gave me the confidence to finally join. I can’t thank her and Heidi enough for introducing me to CrossFit  🙂

What do you love most about CFBB?

There is so much to love!!! The coaches here make me feel like they genuinely care about my progress within the gym and outside the gym. They check up on me when I miss a few days and make sure everything is okay. CFBB has become a place I attend almost everyday and it is so nice being able to feel comfortable there. I always leave in a happier mood!

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?

CrossFit has definitely made some improvements outside the box for me mentally. I feel better about myself. I feel more confident in my own skin. AND.. if there’s something heavy at home or work that needs to be moved, I don’t need to ask someone for help… I got that! (Usually lol)

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

Yessss!!! I always encourage people to come join the fun at CrossFit Breaux Bridge. So if you’re reading this, you should definitely consider joining because you will not regret it  🙂

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

Late January 2015

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

Yes, like a lot of people, I thought I needed to be “in shape” to do CrossFit. I would pass CFBB everyday on the way home from work and see people running and the wall-balls going up and down.

Sometime in 2014 though, Leanne’s daughter had started CrossFit and we saw her body transform. She was so enthusiastic talking about her workouts and her coach and the people at CrossFit in Pascagoula. She called her coach “Top,” that’s First Sergeant in military lingo. Jeannelle said “Top” learned CrossFit while in the Marines. That intrigued me because I never did anything that got me excited about exercising while I was in the Army. All we ever did was sit-ups, push-ups and run, and run, and run some more. Thankfully, the internet has so much information on CrossFit. I did a little research, actually a lot of research, for several months, and started paying closer attention to what was going on while I passed every afternoon. I noticed there was people of all sizes, big girls and guys as well as skinny chicks and musculey dudes doing the WODs. I watched for almost a year. What finally gave me the push to actually contact Josh and ask about joining, was a comment our grandson made about my belly looking like I had a baby in it. That moment of truth from a 3 yr old was like getting hit over the head with a 2×4, but it is what I needed.

What do you love most about CFBB?

The variety. I like that it is different everyday. I like that we rarely have to spend too much time on any one movement and we are on to the next thing. Usually, there may be one movement that might suck, but if you just gut through it, you are through and on to the next. And, as you go, you notice how many movements compliment others or are versions of others. A wall-ball is basically a thruster. And, almost everything we do involves a squat in some way.

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?

In almost every way. Everything is easier. The movements we do in WODs transfer into things I do around the house from picking up bags of chicken feed or mulch to pushing a wheelbarrow, or climbing a ladder. I thought I got around the house and got things done before, but now EVERYTHING is easier. I have to say, that the improvements I have experienced from CrossFit are not just physical either. I have to say I feel better about myself mentally. I spring out of bed most mornings, make a list, and tackle my day. Just like a WOD, everyday of life is just a list of things to get done.

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I have. I have told many people and they have seen the results. I tell them how much CrossFit carries over into all aspects of my life. I don’t think anyone understands until they try it for themselves. It is very hard to get people to get off the couch. I think people, especially people my age (50), don’t realize how bad they actually feel. They think all those aches and pains are a fact of getting older. They don’t know how much better they could feel and how much easier everything in life can be if they put a little functional fitness in their life.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

CFBB is fun. The people you workout with become your friends. We have a variety of different coaches, that makes every different workout even more different because Trey can tell you something 300 times, but Alex can tell you the same thing once, and for some reason it clicks. I like that. You get different cues from different coaches and that helps you improve.

Teddy Thibodeaux

Introducing to you the one –the only– Theodore “Teddy” Thibodeaux! Since joining us, Teddy has lost a total of 13 3/4 inches, 34 pounds, and 8% body fat! Whoop whoop!

What made you start CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

I had developed a terrible hip pain that scared the crap out of me. I turned 40 years old and really started thinking about my health and if this pain would be my life from now on. Also my slightly older brothers and school friends all looked so “old” to me, but then I realized… I do too! Forget that! I wanna live!

What do you love most about CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

I love the community. It may sound cheesy but I love seeing the same faces each day struggling through the workouts just like me. That environment makes me push a lot harder than if I were alone. The CrossFit philosophy of humility and support is contagious.

How has CFBB affected your life outside of the box?

I have double the energy to do everything I love even better. I want to do more things because I feel better. I didn’t even realize it before, but now when I’m doing random things I think back. Like today for instance- I walked outside to close my garage door and found a basketball in the grass. So I picked it up and reminded myself why I didn’t play basketball in school for about 20 minutes of failed baskets. The point is that I wouldn’t have even bent over to pick it up just a few months ago. I living more of life.

What is your fondest CrossFit Breaux Bridge memory?

This is a tough one, but I would have to say it was when I had my youngest daughter (aka daddy’s girl) working out with me and we challenged each other to finish first. She is 16 yrs. 90 lbs. and only did CrossFit for a handful of times so I knew I would spank her. Well that didn’t happen- I had a fresh lesson in humility but I loved every second of it!

What would you say to someone thinking about joining CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

I’ve told Josh this before- If I had known what CrossFit was I would have never walked through the door! I had no idea- never heard of CrossFit before- thought it was just another gym. I would assume that most average joe’s like myself would think this is crazy or dangerous. No way do you put an out of shape 40 yr. old in with these maniacs! I believe it was God’s providence that let it play out for me the way that it did, because I know now that anyone, in any condition, can do it and benefit from it. So I would say- do it. Don’t just try it, but make it a part of your life and you will not be sorry.

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge? *
I started CrossFit at CrossFit Breaux Bridge about a year and a half ago, although it certainly doesn’t feel like its been that long.

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle? *
I originally did CrossFit at another CrossFit in Lafayette, but I decided to stop because it was my first semester of college and I wanted to focus on school. However, after a couple months I started feeling horrible, I was tired all the time, I kept getting sick, and I just didn’t feel like doing anything. So after someone told me that if I would start working out again I would feel better I thought about going back to CrossFit. But because of my scheduling with school I couldn’t afford, time wise, to drive through Lafayette during rush hour so I couldn’t go back to the CrossFit in Lafayette. However, many of my family members and friends who were at CFBB kept telling me “Man just go check it out, just go talk to Josh, don’t worry he is really nice he just looks super intimidating!” So I figured what harm could one month do, let me just go see what its about over there and I’ve been hooked ever sense.

What do you love most about CFBB? *
One of the things I love most about CFBB is the feeling that you are part of a family. Let me explain. As I’ve said I’ve been here for a while and it still amazes me how everyone, especially the coaches, take such an interest into each one of our members’ lives. I have seen on multiple occasions coaches, and members, taking time not only to talk to someone but more importantly LISTEN about one thing and showing genuine interest and concern and once they were done they would ask someone else, “Oh hey have you been working on your squat form?” or “How did that thing we talked about work out?” I don’t know maybe its just me, but personally I find it pretty amazing that this group of people who only see each other for small amounts of the day show such interest in our lives and who want to see other members be the best they can be. I believe the most amazing thing I have witness is that though we may compete against each other in one form or another
we ALWAYS encourage and motivate one another, one’s victory is our victory!

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box? *
One thing that CFBB has made absolutely clear is how important dieting is. A year ago I was eating Little Debbie Cakes all day every day. I’m talking Zebra Cakes, Fudge Rounds, or even worse I was eating 2 bags of Sour Gummie Worms a night. Once I told a coach this I could tell she threw up a little in her mouth and she convinced me to change my eating habits since then I’ve lost about 10 pounds-ish, I have improved dramatically in every lift, and more importantly I just feel better.
CrossFit has taught me to take out my vocabulary “I Can’t” and replace it with ” I will Try” and if that doesn’t work
” Try Harder”

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why? *
I would highly recommend joining CFBB to a friend. Why? Because I want my friends to be the best version of themselves. Now don’t get me wrong if they don’t want to do it I won’t force them to, but if they were asking me “Hunner ,I think I wanna start working out. What you think I should do?” I would tell them that if they want to start feeling better in their everyday life, and looking better, and want to be part of a family that is going to push you to be the very best version of you that you could possibly be, then they should check out CFBB.
Is there anything else you would like to add? *
CFBB truly wants everyone who walks into their gym to realize that there is an amazing person in everyone and if you give it time you and others will see that person emerge.

“Let me begin by admitting that I’ve tried to lose weight and “be healthy” many times in the last 30 years, always failing. “

Before this 12 week experience I had already taken all of the “white ingredients” out of my daily life. No rice, sugar, potatoes etc. I had lost some weight but really didn’t feel better/healthier. Josh sat with me one evening and really encouraged me to try this program. I must also say that I’ve had and still have some health issues that contribute to my not being where I want to be. That aside, I really wanted to succeed and have been very diligent with this program.

TAMMIE AUCOIN 19 Pounds Lighter

I was a anxious about our initial meeting at Bambi’s house. I wasn’t sure what to expect and I was feeling a little overwhelmed with the changes I was expecting to make. Even though I wanted to do this, I usually struggle with change. It was the best couple of hours I’ve had in a long time. We were all there with different stories and lives but there for the same thing TOGETHER! I knew that I had made the right choice for myself.

There were a few times during the 12 weeks that I thought I might falter and grab a candy bar or chips, and other times when I would not eat enough.  But each time I remembered what Bambi said about feeding my body well, and realized even though I may not have “felt hungry” or was “too busy” to have a healthy snack or eat, my body needed nourishment. Once I realized that, I never felt the urge to get off track.

Bambi’s support and that of my 12 week family has been so wonderful. I feel a bond with them. I feel like I can go to any of them now or even 6 months from now if I need encouragement and hope they feel the same from me.

While I did not lose as much weight as I had hoped I would, I DID lose weight and hit a milestone that I haven’t known in many years. I cried like a baby that day! There were days that I could have been discouraged as the scale didn’t agree with what I thought it should say but Bambi was always there lifting my spirits with encouragement and positive affirmations. You are a blessing to me. : )

I am proud to say that I completed the 12 weeks and did it the way we were instructed at that first uplifting meeting.  I really feel that I will continue this new healthy way of meal planning and feeding my body for life. I do not miss the old way at all! And if I don’t lose another pound, at least I’m doing what’s healthy for myself on the inside.

I’ve also learned and accepted that we are all unique and though our goals are the same, our results, (whether due to genetics, physical limitations etc.) are not. And that’s ok!

I would recommend and encourage anyone who is interested in this program. I believe it can be beneficial and it extends beyond and into our families. My husband has lost weight as well…..

The family that paleos together feels better and lives longer together 🙂

Joining a CrossFit gym has always been on the top of my list. After my daughter graduated from college, I decided it was my turn. I have been attending CFBB since July 2015.  I’ve always wanted to look good. I’m being totally honest. That has always been my main focus.

I work out faithfully at least 4 days a week.  From July – December 2015, my weight pretty much stayed the same. That’s great if you’re okay with your size. I started the nutrition class with Mrs. Bambi in January 2016.

I have lost 22 pounds in 12 weeks.

Okay…maintain for 6 months eating my way …… or eat Paleo for 12 weeks and lose 22 pounds? I’m convinced it works.  I know I have energy out of this world. Working out 4 days a week for 6 months didn’t give me the results I wanted. I worked out 4 days a week and lost nothing. I worked out 4 days a week for 12 weeks ate Paleo and lost 22 pounds. Now you do the math, the only thing that changed was eating Paleo. Meat and Veggies. I’m no longer bloated or feeling stuffed.

I feel so much better. Yes, it requires lots of cooking. I guess before it was sandwiches on paper plates and napkins. I feel great now, I enjoy passing mirrors because I get a chance to look at ME.  It’s a joy to get up in the morning for work and everything fits. I even laugh at some of the clothes that actually fall off of me.

I can just walk in the store and everything I pick up in my size fits.

My last checkup was December 28, 2015.  My Cholesterol was 232.  Now it’s 160.  Triglycerides were 135.  Now they’re 70.  And my LDL ‘bad cholesterol’ was 149 and now it’s 89.  The list goes on and on. I guess what I’m trying to say is If I hadn’t change my eating habits, my health would have been deteriorating.  Numbers don’t lie. I had a doctor’s visit because of my allergies in April 2016. My doctor was alarmed at the weight loss because it was so drastic from the last time. He said “just please tell me it was because of your workouts and the way you’re eating.” My answer was “yes.”  One of my CrossFit buddies said to one of the coaches that “Karen is kicking butt in her work outs now.” I enjoyed hearing that.  Mrs. Bambi has taught me so much. I guess I can say she held our hands and guided us to a new way of living.  Mrs. Bambi had all of the answers and suggestions to keep us on the plan.

I’m still not a fan of burpees, but it’s a whole lot easier lifting 22 pounds less than before. My blood work numbers are amazing and I’m 8 pounds from my goal weight. I think at the age of 52, I’m doing great. It’s never too late to start.

I know this is just the beginning. Looking good and being healthy was always my main focus. I know the coaches talk about being strong. I‘ll take being strong if I’m looking good (cute). I guess the bottom line is that working out is great, but eating healthy AND working out makes my workouts more enjoyable.  Mexican food is my favorite. I know I will eat it every once in a while. And I know one treat meal will not destroy what I have worked so hard for. If I plan my meals ahead everything seem to work out great for me. I take one Paleo meal at a time and the pounds are falling off.

I’ve learned more about eating habits in 12 weeks than I have in years.

Thank you, Mrs. Bambi, you’re an angel.

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

I started my journey with CFBB almost one year ago and it has been an amazing ride. One of my trainers in the law enforcement academy incorporated some of the CrossFit techniques which peaked my interest and he spoke so highly of CrossFit, I just had to give it a shot. At 43 years old, I am the strongest and healthiest I have ever been. I can finally say I feel good on the inside and look good on the outside.

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

Yes, confidence held me back before! I felt that I would not be able to keep up with other and I feared that I was too old, slow, and not athletic enough. I felt it would be be too hard or not in my budget. But I decided to try anyway, and to my surprise it was the total opposite of everything I had assumed. I began training by great coaches and fell right in place by going at my own pace. I haven’t regretted a moment or looked back since.

What do you love most about CFBB?

A friend asked me the same question one day, and she said that my face lit up like she had never seen before as I talked about exercising and getting in shape. I told her it was nothing like I’d ever done before. Everyday is a new challenge with new adventures. There is a new workout everyday called a, “WOD”, and I look at it everyday and say to myself, “I can’t do that.” But the coaches always ensure me that I can. I give the workouts my best and leave with a feeling of accomplishment.

In what ways has Crossfit improved your life outside the box?

Outside the box, I feel stronger and secure in knowing that at any time I am ready to face a strenuous situation on my job as an LEO. During my off time at home I have more energy for myself and family.

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend CFBB to everyone, because as we grow older an active lifestyle is more important than ever. No matter what your age is, anyone can benefit from exercising. Crossfit has benefited my mood, relieved my stress, and managed my weight.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

One of my fondest memory was when one of the coaches ran alongside me at my pace to help me complete a two mile run. They never let me quit, instead, they kept me focused and motivated. I looked again and another person running with me, and he had just finish but wanted to help me. When I finish that “WOD” no one had left, they were all waiting to cheer me on with high fives and “good jobs”, that was so freaking amazing. I was so pumped and felt as if nothing could stop me now.

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

I’ve been doing CrossFit for one year and can’t say enough amazing things about what it has done for my overall fitness. At 33 years old, I am the strongest and fittest I have ever been. I don’t regret one day of it!

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

When I first heard of Crossfit, I said I didn’t have a desire to work out that hard and that I was content with what I was doing in Bootcamp. I have never in my life been anything close to an athlete. I was a going to a local gym for about a year and a half with mostly females. I had never touched any sort of weight bar or done a pull up so the whole concept behind Crossfit was pretty intimidating. If I get real honest, I was afraid I didn’t have the ability to work that hard. However I was in desperate need of change and I was not in the shape I wanted to be. I finally stepped into the CFBB box thanks to my aunt who been talking to me about this “thing called crossfit” for a few months. Best decision I ever made!!!!

What do you love most about CFBB?

There are so many things I love about CFBB, but one of my favorite’s is that the coaches and other members are always there to push and support you in order to help you achieve things you never thought were possible. It’s always challenging, and different everyday so nothing gets routine or boring. Hanging out with the peeps at CFBB is a lot of fun. I look forward to my WODs.

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?

CFBB has affected me outside of the box in many ways. Very soon after I began CFBB I started seeing amazing results. I’m stronger, and for the first time in my life I have real muscles. The most unexpected change in my live has been my change in eating habits, thanks to CFBB. My results increased when I chose to participate in the Paleo Challenge. Eating paleo I feel energized and focused during workouts and faster recovery afterwards.

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would recommend joining CFBB to anyone! I haven’t met anyone that isn’t friendly and encouraging, and I never feel like people are judging me. They’re a nice group of people, very welcoming to new people, and definitely part of the reason I keep going back.

When did you start your CrossFit journey?
I started my crossfit journey in Sept of 2013. Alex was the coolest onramp coach EVER and really took her time to make sure we executed each movement properly.

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?
During my second pregnancy, i gained an enormous amount of weight and weighed in at almost 200lbs!! I wanted to lose some weight and get to a place where I felt I could be confidence enough to walk into a crossfit gym….so I trained with my sister for 6 months before joining crossfit.

What do you love most about CrossFit Breaux Bridge?
One of the things that I have come to realize and love about CFBB is just how much each one of the coaches care for and work with each individual….I’ve never felt like I was “thrown to the wolves” and the amount of encouragement given to each member is absolutely priceless…I love my cfbb family!

In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?
When I joined cfbb, I took a very special person with me…each time we WOD together, it brings us closer and helps to build a stronger foundation between us….I’ve also been able to show my children the importance of living a healthy life and they love to exercise and stay strong!

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?
I am always telling my friends and family how much I enjoy working out at cfbb and wish I could share that time with them. I’m thankful for all of the great memories that are made there and for all the inspiration spread across the box….CFBB rocks! Yaaaay!

What made you start CrossFit?

I am Police Officer and SWAT operator. My job is extremely demanding and always continuously evolving. My Best friend started Crossfit here @ CFBB. I heard ranting and raving daily about how awesome it was. I was a non-believer. Until one day I came in and got my ass handed to me. That was the point where I realized I could take my fitness and physical athleticism to a whole new level. So from there on, I was hooked.

What do you love most about CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

Crossfit Breaux Bridge is the perfect blend of athletes. You have your athletes that are pushing there physical and metal capabilities to find a fitter, healthier version of themselves. There are your more hardcore knuckle heads that compete, where I find myself falling into. Irregardless of the reasons why people chose Breaux Bridge to crossfit, it’s truly a family. Everyone spreads love daily, and everyone is so supportive.

How has CrossFit affected your life outside of the box?

Crossfit has introduced some really amazing people into life. People that I think I have created lifelong bonds with. For that I’m forever grateful. If you surround yourself with great people, you tend to become a better you. Its helped me through mental soft spots (which you will understand in the next question). Crossfit has taught me that the farther you push your mind, the farther you can push your body. In my pursuit of superior athleticism, I find me being in the best physical and mental shape that I’ve ever been in. Thank you CFBB. Much love!

What is your fondest CrossFit Breaux Bridge memory?

My fondest memory was February 6, 2014 when we created a Hero WOD for my father Greg Lavergne. A year ago that day, he passed away. Josh Trahan and the wonderful coaches programmed a beastly workout in his honor. I think I speak for my family in that we were speechless. To see that the workout that morning, was very motivating.

What would you say to someone thinking about joining CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

I would definitely encourage them to come and watch the CFBB family grind through workouts, encouraging and helping one another. Every single time I’m at the box, I see humbling selflessness with the way people are always willing to help others. I’d let them know that crossfit is the way to transform yourself into a better, healthier, stronger you.

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

My journey with CFBB started back in November 2012. My daughter, Shea, and I were attempting to start a work out regime at Gold’s gym when we popped our heads into the Crossfit box located in the back of the gym. Josh welcomed us in and suggested we consider joining CrossFit. Our immediate response was that we needed to get into shape before we could even attempt that kind of work out. Josh was quick to respond and tell us that Crossfit was what would get us into shape. Once we got all the specifics about cf we went home and talked about it and challenged each other to give it a try. The daily work outs were sometimes gruesome but we began to love the challenge of seeing whether we could complete them or not. It soon became an addiction and the first thing we would do every morning would be to check our phones to see what the WOD was for the day!

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner?

To be honest, I had never heard of CrossFit before. However, if I had heard of it I think the only thing that would have prevented me from joining would have been to work out with men. I have never been comfortable doing that but I am so glad I gave it a try because it does not bother me at all. The guys at the gym are great motivators!

What do you love most about CrossFit?

Simply put….I love the people. I usually work out at 4 pm and love this group, however, I can go at anytime and enjoy my work out and the people in any group. I also love the coaches and all of the knowledge they bring to the table. They always have our best interest at heart. I love having a planned WOD and someone there to lead and guide me and make sure I am doing everything right.

In what way has CrossFit improved your life outside the box?

What’s age got to do with it????? I will be turning 50 in April and I am in the best shape of my life thanks to Crossfit! When I started CrossFit I had started doing couch to 5K and was able to run my first 5K in 29 minutes. I was so pumped but still not satisfied. Josh told me that CrossFit would help me become a better runner and I just could not see how that could be because we did not do a lot of running in the wod’s. Well he was right again. I just ran a 10 mile race with my son in Washington DC and had no trouble completing the run in 1 hour and 49 minutes with a pace of 10:54 per minute. I know CrossFit has helped my legs become stronger and I am grateful for that as well as the rest of my body being in great shape! Some of my friends say that I am getting too old for this kind of workouts and that my body will hate me later. Well I disagree and plan on doing CrossFit as long as I am able! I have also taken up much better eating habits since I have joined CrossFit which is a big help too.

Would you recommend CrossFit to friends and if so why?

My son and daughter have both been members of CrossFit Breaux Bridge and CrossFit Mobile and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in transforming their body and lifestyle.

When did you start your journey with CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

I first joined CFBB in the middle of June of 2013 not that long after I graduated from high school.
Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?
I hadn’t really heard or knew much about CrossFit before I started. I was going to Golds Gym for a little while but always felt like I was never getting anything accomplished because I just didn’t know what kind of exercises to make myself do. I ended up quiting over there around March of 2013. As I was finishing up with school in May, I knew that I needed to get back in the gym, but not just any gym. I knew a few people that were doing CrossFit and said how much they loved it so I thought I would give it a try!
What do you love most about CFBB?
There is so much to love about CFBB, but I would have to say that the people are what I love most. Literally everyone is so kind and so motivating. There is always someone cheering you on and pushing you to finish the WOD and thats such a great feeling. I didn’t know any of these people before I started CrossFit but now I feel like they are a second family to me. Also, CFBB has just about the best coaches on the planet I must admit. 🙂 Without them, I obviously wouldnt be able to do half of the things that I am capable of doing now. Ya’ll inspire me so much, seriously!
In what ways has CrossFit improved your life outside of the box?
I live a much healthier lifestyle now because of CrossFit. I used to eat so much junk food allllllll of the time, and I look back now and I’m pretty disgusted with myself for that. I’m currently doing my first Paleo challenge right now and its definitely life changing. It’s crazy how much better your body feels when you eat healthy compared to when you pig out on the fattiest foods. Dont get me wrong, when this challenge is over I will without a doubt have myself a grand CHEAT DAY! But I will NEVER go back to my bad old eating habits.
Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend joining CFBB to anyone! It has changed my life so much in these past 7 months that I’ve been here, and I’m sure everyone else at CFBB can agree with me 100%! It’s just a great atmosphere and I always leave feeling like I’ve done something good with my life!
There’s not a day that goes by that i think about quitting or regret joining CrossFit. Honestly, joining was probably one of the best decisions that Ive ever made. So that means yall are stuck with me for a long long time;P #CFBBNATION

What made you start CrossFit?

I had been going to Gold’s gym for years and I wasn’t accomplishing any of my weight loss goals. I would attend aerobic and Zumba classes daily and workout on the elliptical and treadmills, etc. My husband was a member of CFBB. I noticed such great results and constant progress in him. I would ask him questions about CFBB daily. Until one day I took his advice and I joined CFBB.

What do you love most about CrossFit Breaux Bridge?

I love the constant challenges in CFBB and the self-competitiveness of reaching new goals. CFBB members and coaches are amazing. The coaches always push me to my limits. I’m doing workouts that I thought I would never be able to do. The motivation is what keeps me coming back to CFBB.

How has CrossFit affected your life outside of the box ?

I am stronger physically and mentally than I ever thought I could be. My family and I live a more healthier and active lifestyle . I have more endurance and energy now to go on 3 mile runs on Saturdays with my daughters. I’m doing things now that even as a kid I was unable to do.

What is your fondest CrossFit Breaux Bridge memory ?

My fondest CFBB memory I must say was when I was finally able to ring the PR(personal record) bell for the first time after completing an unassisted kipping pull up. I was so pumped!!!

What would you say to someone thinking about joining CrossFit Breaux Bridge ?

Stop thinking about it and join. You can improve your fitness and have fun doing it. The coaches are very knowledgeable. You will be amazed with your results. Join.

What made you start CrossFit?
I had hit that plateau where no matter how much I worked out, I was still seeing no results. Day in and day out it had become the same boring routine. Run on the treadmill and then do a couple of the machines, and that was getting me nowhere. I needed something different. I needed change. I needed a challenge. I just didn’t know what could give me that. One day at work I ran into Michelle Broussard, and questioned her a little about CrossFit. Of course I had noticed the amazing progress she was making with CrossFit. She told me everything I needed to know. She explained the toughness of it, but then explained how rewarding it was. We talked for about ten minutes, and that conversation alone was what I needed to make up my mind and sign up. And that was one of the best decisions I had ever made.

What do you love most about CrossFit Breaux Bridge?
There are so many things I love about CrossFit Breaux Bridge. I’ve never been in a more accepting and encouraging atmosphere. You are surrounded with highly motivated people that are putting in the strenuous work to better themselves every single day. Everyone has that drive to push him or herself beyond their comfort zone. We all have that mentality of striving for continual and never ending progress. CFBB is a community that I would want to be apart of for a VERY long time.

How has CrossFit affected your life outside the box?
I joined CrossFit with one goal in mind, and that was to lose weight and get in shape. Now don’t get me wrong, dropping the weight and becoming healthier has been a huge plus, but as time went on my outlook on it has changed. I have scoliosis, which is curvature of the spine. Right now the curve in my spine is at 29 degrees. My back has always been weak. I have pulled muscles in it bending down for a pencil. For a year I had to wear a brace to try and correct my posture. It was horrible. I felt like I was wearing a bulletproof vest. The results were great in the beginning, but slowly my back went right back to where it was before. Along with the bad posture also came really bad backaches and back spasms. There were times where I couldn’t even stand for longer than 10 minutes because my back would start to spasm. I figured it was something I had to just live with…until I joined CrossFit. I can’t even put into words how grateful I am for CrossFit and what it has done to help my back. My back is strong. I’m mentally stronger. I stand taller. My mother always jokes around now saying how I finally stand like a lady. I no longer have my usual backaches, tightness, or spasms. There is no more heating pads, no brace, no constant Advil for the aches, and no worrying about possibly pulling something in my back. Because my back and core are stronger, I am now able to hold the sway in my hips, so it is not as noticeable. This alone has made me more confident and less self-conscious. It feels great to be able to wear clothing that before CrossFit would accentuate my hip sway. My goal has now shifted towards getting my back even stronger. I don’t want to go back to the pain I had before CrossFit. I will always have scoliosis, but CrossFit has made it a hell of a lot easier to deal with.

What is your fondest CrossFit Breaux Bridge moment?
I would have to say my fondest CFBB moment was attending the Ragin Games as a spectator. I surely didn’t know what to expect before I got there. I had never been to a CrossFit Comp. Being in that atmosphere and watching as the CFBB people cheered on the competitors was indescribable. That is where I truly got a glimpse how self-less and awesome the people in the CFBB community are.

What would you say to someone thinking about joining CrossFit Breaux Bridge?
Simple…do it. And if you do decide to join, go in it with 100%. Devote the time and effort. You never know what you will get out of something unless you try it out. I didn’t know the impact it would have on me when I first joined. Everyday we walk out of the box with so much more than just a great workout. It’s un-measurable.

What made you start Crossfit?
Michelle, aka Michey B.  We’ve shared a love for each other as friends, and chubby girl problems for a long time.  So when she joined Crossfit, I knew it was only a matter of time before I would too.  I made excuses as to why I didn’t join when she did, but the main reason was because I was scared.  I didn’t feel like my health and endurance were anywhere close to where it needed to be for Crossfit. After a few months of hearing her stories about Crossfit and seeing first hand how her body was changing, I knew it was time for me to join.  I needed something challenging to keep me motivated, and Crossfit was my answer.
What do you love most about Crossfit Breaux Bridge?
The people.  Everyone is amazing!!  We have a great community of people that are all working to better themselves, and encourage each other along the way.  Our coaches are pretty damn AWESOME as well.  Always there to answer questions or help with anything you need.
How has Crossfit affected your life outside of the box?
I think Crossfit has made me a better person.  Not only has it helped me physically, but also it’s helped me mentally as well.  I think going to Crossfit and experiencing WODs that literally made me want to cry and/or showed me that working through anything, as much as it may suck, is possible.  And it’s hard for people that I talk to about Crossfit to understand why I love it so much.  But it’s because I found myself, in a way, here.  Pushing myself way past my comfort zone has helped me in my personal life as well.  Without getting totally deep with you guys, I’ll just say without Crossfit I wouldn’t have had the courage or strength to deal with things that have happened in the past year.
What is your fondest Crossfit Breaux Bridge memory?
I think this is the hardest question to answer because there have been so many wonderful memories here.  But I’ll go with the first WOD of the open this year, 13.1 burpees and snatches…before the WOD even started I was doubting that I would get any snatches at 75# because my max snatch before was 65# and it was horrible and ugly.  So after getting through the 70 burpees and 30 snatches at 45#, it was time to try the 75# snatch.  My first three attempts were fails because I couldn’t get under the bar.  But with Josh coaching me on the sidelines, I was able to get my first one!!  The movement finally felt right and I understood what the hell he meant when he said to fall under the bar.  I was able to get seven reps at 75#!!  Not bad for a new PR!
What would you say to someone thinking about joining Crossfit Breaux Bridge?
Do it.  Don’t worry about your age, health, or strength.  Just do it.  Everyone is capable of coming into our box and making themselves into a better person.  And CFBB is the best place to be!!

What made you start CrossFit?
Years of a negative and destructive self-perspective had finally taken its toll.  It was counseling or ???.  The ??? was a stab in the dark…CrossFit.

What do you love most about CrossFit Breaux Bridge?
I love the trainers and community that make CFBB.  When you walk in the box all three trainers are honestly excited to see you and often inquire where you’ve been if you’ve been gone for a few days.  They care without making it uncomfortable or by putting pressure on you.
I also enjoy the safe environment that CFBB provides and I am not referring to the OSHA reportable kind.  CFBB is a community that expects your personal best every day and no one arrives to “one-up” anyone.  On any given day you can be your absolute best or your absolute worst, and anyone at CFBB will treat you just the same—they will encourage and genuinely cheer you on.

How has CrossFit affected your life outside of the box?

After nearly a year of CrossFit, my life possesses more ease and joy.  I am kinder, more open and tolerant of myself and others.  I take myself and life less seriously, which allows me to find fun in the things that I do.  I give up less easily and am able to accomplish more.  I am less fearful of making mistakes which allows for an expanded comfort zone.  I have more patient and confidence.

Marriage succeeds when partners grow in step together.  While I may never completely understand Cory, I can definitely relate better to him now that we share CrossFit.
I’ve added a dimension to being a mother.  I am now a role-model to my children showing them the importance of health, nutrition and fitness.  This may be the most profound change of all.

What is your fondest CrossFit Breaux Bridge memory?
The memory that stands out the most is how I felt when I saw Cory struggling during a workout.  It made me physically uncomfortable to see him in pain, but I felt closer to him because I knew what he was going through.
Another fond memory is when a neighbor told me that I was her fitness inspiration.  It confirmed that I was a changed person.

What would you say to someone thinking about joining CrossFit Breaux Bridge?
Right after telling them yes, yes, yes to try it, I would share three things:
1)Join for at least one month.  Attend consistently (3-5x / week) and you will see results—mentally and physically.
2)Try not to be intimidated.  Every movement is scale-able so that you can complete each workout.  Just talk to your coach.
3)Find a workout partner.  We are all human and need support in and out of the box.

What made you start CrossFit?
What made me start CrossFit was watching all of the “crazy things” going on in the back of Gold’s.  So I watched for a few months, read a few articles, watched a few YouTube videos (never read the YouTube comments) and decided to give it a try.  So when I tried for the first time I thought I was in shape, well needless to say it kicked my a$$ (like all of them seem to do). From that point on I haven’t looked back, I no longer feel like a zombie going do a few curls or super setting chest workouts, it’s now going do random fun stuff .
What do you love most about CrossFit Breaux Bridge?
What I like most about CFBB is being able to go at any time of the day and no matter who is there (coach or athlete) you are welcomed.  The coaches that we have there are there for you wanting to help you.  All of the athletes that go to CFBB are like family; everybody is willing to help each other out.
How has CrossFit affected your life outside of the box?
CFBB has affected me outside of the box in many positive ways. It has showed me that my physical capabilities can be pushed way more than I thought.  Before CFBB I was going to the chiropractor every month for my back and standing up at work for hours would kill me.  Now I still go to the chiropractor, not for my back but just for preventative care, and standing at work is no longer a problem.  Also CFBB and a change of diet (Paleo) have helped me get off of my high blood pressure meds (yea I know 28 and HBP).
What is your fondest CrossFit Breaux Bridge memory?
My fondest memory at CFBB is walking in on 12/26/2012, not because of the workout or because I hit a new PR or my first muscle up or any of that stuff.  It was when I found out that my wife signed up and did her fit test.  To some people that might seem like whipedy doo, but to me that was like the world, due to the fact that I tried countless ways and many of times trying to get her to sign up.  Since then she has been going regularly,  did two paleo challenges, and we are about to do a comp together.  I find that it has made the bond of our marriage stronger (sounds crazy but wut ev)

What would you say to someone thinking about joining CrossFit Breaux Bridge?
If somebody would ask me where would be a good place to train at a CrossFit gym, I would reply anywhere, but if they wanted an awesome place to train with bad azz coaching and WOD  killing   peeps then I would without a doubt tell them CrossFit Breaux Bridge

When did you start your journey with Crossfit Breaux Bridge?

I started my journey with Crossfit Breaux Bridge on June 16, 2014, at the age of 15. At that time, my friend Ahni was in Crossfit and it was all she talked about. So, I asked my mom to sign me up. At the time it was just me signing up, even though I had begged my dad all day, he finally made the decision. That night we had our first on-Ramp class. He decided to join so that we could push and encourage each other through this journey.

Was there anything that prevented you from joining our community sooner? If so, how did you overcome that obstacle?

I didn’t join Crossfit sooner because of all the negativity out there towards this fitness regimen. The best thing I ever did was to get up and check it out myself. This was the best decision I’ve ever made towards my future goals and a healthier, better me.

What do you love most about CFBB?

I love Crossfit Breaux bridge for its people, family environment, and of course, our very qualified coaches. They have shown me that even though weightlifting is my strong suit, that I can do the gymnastics part at my own pace. Because of this, I’ve improved so much. No one there judges you or makes you feel that you can’t do it.

•In what ways had Crossfit improved your life outside of the box?

Because of my training at Crossfit Breaux Bridge, I can now run the bases on the softball field with ought needing an oxygen machine. I used to dread making that long run, but now with the endurance and speed I have, I can run with the best and fastest of them. Being a pitcher is no easy task, but having gotten intense training with Crossfit pitching has become that much easier.

Would you recommend joining CFBB to a friend? If so, why?

I believe in Crossfit so much that I recommended it to the whole Cecilia Lady Bulldog softball team. Many of them joined my journey and I can guarantee that I am on a never ending road to Heath and fitness.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
